Go With the Flow: Ansys Teams With DCAI and NVIDIA to Advance Quantum Algorithms for Fluid Dynamics

NVIDIA CUDA-Q running on Gefion enables new engineering applications for quantum computing. As part of this collaboration, Ansys has successfully scaled a computational fluid dynamics simulation to 39 qubits using NVIDIA CUDA-Q and Gefion, DCAI’s supercomputer.

Computational fluid dynamics simulations have become indispensable across aerospace, automotive, energy, and process industries. This milestone establishes a robust foundation for quantum-accelerated fluid dynamics and helps chart a systematic path toward industrial-scale quantum development.

"We’re seeing how CUDA-Q can unlock hybrid quantum-classical computing for researchers using Gefion,” said Nadia Carlsten, CEO of DCAI. “Partnering with NVIDIA and Ansys has allowed us to drive the convergence of quantum technologies and AI supercomputing.”

“To discover tomorrow’s practical quantum applications, researchers must be able to run meaningfully large simulations of them today,” said Timothy Costa senior director of quantum and CUDA-X at NVIDIA. “NVIDIA is enabling collaborators like Ansys and DCAI by providing the supercomputing platforms researchers need to increase quantum computing’s impact.”
